On Thursday, June 17th, the WordPress camp released the new version 3.0 to the world. New enhancements and features make it the latest and greatest. This is an official release and you can upgrade through your dashboard or download the latest version and upgrade yourself.

Is WordPress 3.0 ready?

The folks at WordPress have released version 3.0 RC1. This means they are one step closer to an official release of the newest version. 3.0 has some new features that people have been asking for and it all looks good. We are already running it on our other website www.gdscomp.net and have had no problems. So get ready cause here it comes!

WordPress 3.0 Coming Soon!

We are getting closer to a new official WordPress 3.0. The second beta version is now available for anyone that likes to stay on the cutting edge.

Lots of new features coming including customizable menus and the merge with WordPress MU. You can always read more about it at www.wordpress.org!

New Version – WordPress 3.0

A new WordPress 3.0 beta has been released for download. So it looks like a new official version 3.0 is on it’s way. The beta version that is out is really only for testing purposes and is not something you should jump into. If your into making backups and database backups and familiar with restoring things back a few steps then give it a try but I would wait for the official release before upgrading especially since this is a first release beta that probably has some glitches.

WordPress 2.9.2

A new version of WordPress was released yesterday to correct a problem where logged in users can peek at trashed posts belonging to other authors. If you have untrusted users signed up on your blog and sensitive posts in the trash, you should upgrade.

The devoted team at WordPress released version 2.9 today. The new version is packed with new features and upgrades. You can read about all the new stuff and download this latest release here. Security Upgrade to WordPress

Another security issue has been discovered and patched. Upgrade your WordPress installations as soon as possible to avoid any possible problems. The issues deal with logged in users that have posting privileges so if this applies to your site upgrade automatically from the dashboard or download the new version 2.8.6 and upgrade manually. WordPress Version 2.8.5

Although WordPress was made pretty secure with the release of version 2.8.4 this new version is called a “hardening release”. It re-addresses the previous security issues and a couple of other things that needed tightening. It is recomended that users upgrade to this version to be as secure as you can be. Older versions of WordPress are being attacked! You should upgrade to the latest version immediately. The newest version is not susceptible to the type of attacks that are occurring. Read about the attacks and what you should do if you’ve already been stung here.

Coming in WordPress 2.9

In the constant changing world of WordPress we can expect new things to come in WordPress 2.9. Talk of new features and improvements are being voted on now. Looks like the most requested feature deals with editible photo galleries which would be a nice improvement over the per post gallery that exists now. We find ourself using plugins to manage photos so maybe this will be beneficial. Check out all the 2.9 latest here.

WordPress 2.8.2 Released

This week a new version of WordPress was released. WordPress 2.8.2 fixes an XSS vulnerability. Comment author URLs were not fully sanitized when displayed in the admin area. This could be exploited to redirect you away from the admin area to another site.

Download 2.8.2 or automatically upgrade from your dashboard.

WordPress 2.7 Automatic Upgrade

With the release of WordPress 2.7 some great new features have been introduced. One of them is the ability to upgrade the WordPress software automatically. There are still precautions that should be taken as there always are when doing any kind of upgrade that overwrites your files. Our friend figaro over at “Free WordPress Tutorials” has created a video that goes over the proper way to do an automatic upgrade.
