Artisteer 2.5 New Features

A new version of Artisteer is almost ready for release. This new version adds many new features and support for WordPress 3.0. Also with the 3.0 menu support you now have the ability to add widgets to the footer or above and below the article block. So you can add text boxes and custom menus everywhere. There is a preliminary release version available for download that we are playing with now and it seems very stable. Artisteer is the only way to go if you want to quickly and easily create your own blog templates and web page designs. As a developer we use Artisteer because we know we get a stable design to start with before we go and add other features and functionality. Free WordPress Website 2 Theme

A New Theme created with Artisteer 2.4 with a couple added features!

This is a more Page Oriented Theme with a verticle menu to show your Pages. The menu expands when clicked to show sub pages.

The Date is built in to the top of the sidebar.

I have also included support for the Breadcrumb Navigation Plugin to show a page trail at the top of Pages. The plugin is included in the archive and needs to be uploaded to your plugins folder.

Nice professional look with tan and orange colors.

Footer is editable from the dashboard and you can add your own text and links.

If your looking to build a website for your business, club or association this theme will give you a nice looking and easy to navigate site.

Artisteer has officially released version 2.4 and it includes some great new features.

Some new features in 2.4 include:

Vertical Menu support
Flash effects in the header
Sidebar design/skinning
Color picker in color selection dialogs

It looks like Artisteer is getting ready to release version 2.4. After a couple of beta releases they feel that they are almost ready to release a stable version. The new version has many new features and enhancements like a vertical menu, more page layout options and some flash overlays for the header. This theme is well suited for a website with lots of static pages.

It could be used for a business, corporate or club website. It has 2 sidebars, one on each side of the content area. Left sidebar has a vertical expanding menu to show pages and child pages when the parent page is active. Widgets will be positioned under the menu block if added and the right sidebar can be populated completely with widgets. Customize the footer from the WP dashboard with links and text of your choosing.

New Online News Themes

Here’s a WordPress Theme that uses WordPress as an online news site or magazine. Designed to be used with a handy plugin called “Sideposts Widget“. With it you display posts from a featured category on the sidebar that can include a thumnail. The theme was designed with 3 columns with the left sidebar wider than the right. This gives the Sideposts Widget room to display a nice group of articles. Center column displays your other posts and the right sidebar can be used as you wish. New Artisteer Version Page Issues

One thing we found with the new Artisteer version 2.3 is that by default Pages allow comments. You can disable allowing comments when you create your page but then you still get the “Comments are closed” notice at the bottom of the page. What we do is create a new page template by copying the “page.php” file and renaming it “page-comments.php” . You have to add the following code to the top of the new page-comments.php file.

Then we edit the “page.php” file and remove the following line.

So now your default page template has no comments at all, and if you want a page to have comments you just select your new page-comments template when creating your page. We do this with many other themes also. Not only Artisteer.

Artisteer 2.3 has been released

Artisteer has officially released their newest version 2.3 and with it comes quite a few improvements and changes. It now supports designs for Google Blogger along with improved support for WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and DotNetNuke. It includes new glares, textures and icons to provide a bigger variety of little features that give your designs a unique look. The only negative thing is that you can no longer save designs using the trial version so to fully use the product you need to buy it. In our opinion it is still well worth the money and a good investment if you want to produce nice templates for yourself or others.
