Give them what they are looking for right on your front page. Some visitor that come to your website will stop at the Home Page unless you give them the reason to click farther. If you have a Blog Home page make sure your list of “Posts” are on your sidebar and the list should show more than the number of articles displayed on your front page. If you display 5 articles on your front page then list 10 or more. Also Categories and Tags are good to display in the sudebar so visitors can sort articles by Category and Tags or Keywords. If your site is setup with a fixed front page rather than a blog page then make sure you have easy to see links to the other pages that you want people to view. Make sure its right in front of their eyes and make sure your most important things are towards the top.

Membership Websites using WordPress

If you want a website that allows for members to be able to view exclusive content and yet still have some content available for unregistered visitors then WordPress is the way to go. Using a plugin called WP-Members you can do just that. It even provides a registration form that includes additional personal information. You can block posts and pages so that they are available only to members and if a non member goes to one of the blocked pages they will get told it is exclusive content and they will be presented the registration form. Bernie Parent dot Net

One of the nicest guys we have had the privilege of working with is Bernie Parent. Bernie is the Philadelphia Flyers Goalie that took the team to the championships in 1974 and 75. They were known as The Broad Street Bullies then and not only Bernie but the whole team was on fire. Although Bernie’s career came to an early end with an eye injury his name lives on in Hockey history. Today Bernie is a business man and blogger and he’s just as charismatic as ever. When we set up Bernie’s domain name he insisted on it being a dot net name. He said “I stood in front of one for years”. So dot net it was!!
