Thank you Bob!!! I understand now. I renamed the file to front.php and it worked!!! Only the home page shows the gallery and the blog page is back to normal. You are the best!!!! I sincerely appreciate your help. I’m so glad I found your blog post on this topic as I was finding it difficult to find a solution. Have a wonderful day!

If you copy index.php to a new file called home.php WordPress will use home.php as your blog page rather than index.php.

Bob, thank you so much for your suggestion of creating an alternate ‘page template’ that I can apply to my homepage. I did another one (home.php) and I was able to see the slideshow on my homepage only without it being on all my other pages.

Now, I’m not sure why my ‘blog’ page still shows the fcg slideshow when I know I removed the fcg code from the index.php file. LOL…it’s funny.

But I’m getting close to getting it just right thanks to your wonderful help.

You have a static page as your home page. So you need to create a “page template” and apply that template to the page when you publish it. Of course your page template will have to include the Featured Content Gallery code just like in the index.php file. The index.php is your blog page. Are you familiar with making alternate page templates??

When you go there, you will see that the featured content gallery is not showing up on the home page. But if you click on ‘Blog’ on the menu you bar, you will see that the featured content gallery shows up there.

I want it to show up only on the homepage. I thought I was using the correct template file. Isn’t it index.php?

any help understanding where to place the fgc code correctly would be great…thank you for your time.

Hi Bob, I tried your suggestion and it worked but for some reason the featured content gallery only shows up on my blog page when I only want it to appear on my homepage.

I inserted the FGC code in my index.php above the line < ?php if(have_posts()):…but my fcg doesn't show up on my home page.

I don't get this at all.

In the theme displayed on this page I put the FCG code right before this and it worked fine whether I use a catagory or individual pages.

Is it on your site somewhere I can see??

I like featured content gallery but it doesn’t seem to work well in an Artisteer created theme. I added my images to ‘pages’ instead of posts then used the id numbers from those page in my settings. Well, when I look at my gallery it shows the images but then below it my content is overwritten with the content of the page of my last picture. hope this makes sense…
