WordPress – Best Open Source CMS
We have been telling people for a while now that WordPress can be used to create all types of websites and now the world is catching on. It was recently announced that WordPress has been awarded the Overall Best Open Source CMS Award in the 2009 Open Source CMS Awards. This is a terrific acknowledgement of the Power Of WordPress. Artisteer 2.3 has been released
Artisteer has officially released their newest version 2.3 and with it comes quite a few improvements and changes. It now supports designs for Google Blogger along with improved support for WordPress, Drupal, Joomla and DotNetNuke. It includes new glares, textures and icons to provide a bigger variety of little features that give your designs a unique look. The only negative thing is that you can no longer save designs using the trial version so to fully use the product you need to buy it. In our opinion it is still well worth the money and a good investment if you want to produce nice templates for yourself or others. Security Upgrade to WordPress
Another security issue has been discovered and patched. Upgrade your WordPress installations as soon as possible to avoid any possible problems. The issues deal with logged in users that have posting privileges so if this applies to your site upgrade automatically from the dashboard or download the new version 2.8.6 and upgrade manually. Found this great WordPress cheat sheet that contains a nice, condensed, practical reference to WP template tags with detailed descriptions and sample code. All sorted into categories so you can find everything at a glance. If you are into WordPress code or theme design you will find this very useful. Simple Orange WordPress Theme
Here’s a Free WordPress theme to use as a personal blog theme or website. Left over from a design project that wasn’t used so it’s now a free download for anyone that wants to use it. It’s a basically simple theme, orange background with a white body. Red highlighted sidebar boxes and article headers. Drop down Menu Bar. Comes complete with a full width page template and a page template that has comments on it. Also has a custom 404 error page that lists everything available on the site. So if you’d like to use it please feel free to download it and use it however you would like.
